Victrix Plastic Miniatures

12mm M7 Priest VG12017

This Victrix set contains six highly detailed 12mm (1:144 scale) M7 Priest self-propelled guns, complete with a decal sheet. Designed to represent the most iconic Allied mobile artillery of World War II, each model is crisply moulded to reflect the Priest’s distinctive open-topped structure and crew compartment.

The 105mm Howitzer Motor Carriage M7—commonly known as the “Priest”—was a self-propelled artillery piece based on the chassis of the M3 Lee and later the M4 Sherman. It mounted a 105mm M2A1 howitzer and a .50 calibre M2 heavy machine gun for defence. Its nickname, “Priest,” was coined by the British Army, referencing the pulpit-like machine gun ring, and in line with earlier SPGs named Bishop and Deacon.

With a seven-man crew, respectable speed, and a powerful armament, the M7 Priest provided critical mobile fire support in North Africa, Italy, France, and across the Western Front. Its ability to keep pace with advancing armoured divisions made it a vital component in the Allies’ doctrine of combined arms warfare.

  • 6 x 12mm M7 Priest Self-Propelled Guns
  • Decal sheet included

Note: This set requires assembly and painting. Glue, paints and tools are not included and must be purchased separately.

History:

The M7 Priest entered service in 1942 and quickly became a cornerstone of Allied artillery tactics. Developed to address the need for mobile firepower, the vehicle combined the powerful 105mm howitzer with the mobility of a tank chassis. Its open fighting compartment allowed for quick ammunition handling, though at the cost of crew protection. Widely used by U.S., British, and Commonwealth forces, the Priest was instrumental in supporting infantry and armoured advances, especially during the campaigns in Italy and Northwest Europe. Its versatility and dependable performance ensured it remained in frontline service through the end of the war and even into the Korean conflict, setting the standard for post-war self-propelled artillery design.
