Thunder Model Plastic Military Vehicle Kit

Thunder Model British 7.2 inch Howitzer (1/35) Item TM35211

Thunder Models 1/35 scale kit of the British 7.2 inch Howitzer delivers a highly detailed replica of one of the heaviest field artillery pieces used by the British Army during World War II. Mounted on a modified American M1 carriage, the 7.2 inch howitzer provided long-range, high-explosive support during key operations across Europe. This standalone artillery kit is ideal for dioramas or as a complement to British heavy tractor kits.

  • 1/35 scale plastic model kit (Thunder Model item TM35211)
  • Highly detailed 7.2 inch howitzer on split-trail carriage
  • Elevation and traverse mechanisms with firing and transport configurations
  • Detailed breech block and recoil system
  • Ammo box, shells, and trail spades included
  • Photo-etched parts for fine detailing
  • Markings for British Army artillery units

Note: This model kit requires assembly and painting. Glue, paints and tools are not included and must be purchased separately.

Historical Background:

The British 7.2 inch howitzer was developed as a response to the inadequacy of earlier heavy artillery in the face of German defences during WWII. Firing 200-pound shells, the weapon provided devastating firepower at long range, particularly effective against fortified positions. Early versions were mounted on old First World War carriages, but later models used the more stable US-built M1 carriage. These guns were primarily deployed by the Royal Artillerys heavy regiments and saw service in the Italian campaign, Normandy landings, and beyond. Their thunderous recoil and slow but steady rate of fire earned them respect from friend and foe alike.
