Historical Background:
The SSyl flat wagon was one of several heavy-duty railway cars used by the Deutsche Reichsbahn during WWII to move armoured vehicles and essential war materiel across Europe. Rated to carry up to 50 tonnes, these wagons were often seen loaded with Panzers, artillery, and engineering vehicles en route to the front. With steel-framed bodies, wooden plank decks, and standardised buffer-and-coupler systems, the SSyl series played a critical logistical role in Germanys war effort. Their rugged appearance and functionality make them a popular choice for dioramas and display bases alike.
Suggested Paint References:
These paint references are based on common Deutsche Reichsbahn colours and materials. Actual vehicle colours may vary by region and production batch.
