Historical Background:

The M47 Patton entered U.S. service in the early 1950s and remained active in NATO and allied forces through the 1970s. The M47E was exported to Europe and the Middle East, while the M47M featured updated NATO-standard fire-control and night-vision gear. Both versions saw extensive use in training, border defense, and early Cold War readiness.
