Victrix Plastic Miniatures
12mm Churchill Heavy Tank VG12009
This set from Victrix includes six superbly detailed 12mm (1:144 scale) Churchill Mk IV heavy tanks, complete with a decal sheet. Perfectly suited for late-war British armoured forces, these miniatures capture the formidable appearance and engineering of one of Britain’s most iconic tanks of World War II.
The Churchill Mk IV was a heavy infantry tank designed to support foot soldiers in breakthrough operations. It featured exceptionally thick armour, a long chassis with full-length tracks and multiple bogies, and was renowned for its ability to traverse difficult terrain, including steep slopes and rubble-strewn battlefields. While slower than cruiser tanks, its durability and off-road performance made it ideal for close support roles in both the European and Italian campaigns.
The Churchill’s design made it a flexible platform, with numerous variants serving as flame tanks, engineer vehicles, and bridge layers. The Mk IV variant, armed with a 6-pounder or later a 75mm gun, was the most produced of all Churchill marks and saw extensive combat service from 1942 onwards.

History:
Developed under wartime urgency, the Churchill tank overcame early mechanical issues to become one of the most respected British designs of the Second World War. Initially intended for trench warfare, its thick armour and powerful suspension allowed it to adapt to varied roles. The Mk IV variant became the backbone of Churchill-equipped regiments, notably supporting infantry in Tunisia, Normandy, and the drive into Germany. The tank earned a reputation for ruggedness and reliability, especially in operations requiring obstacle-crossing, such as hill assaults and city fighting. It also served as the chassis for many specialised vehicles within Hobart’s Funnies, including the AVRE and the Crocodile flamethrower. The Churchill’s service legacy is one of adaptability, resilience, and unyielding support to British and Commonwealth infantry.
