History:

The Austrian cavalry played a pivotal role during the Napoleonic Wars, particularly in the earlier campaigns between 1798 and 1805. Renowned for their discipline and traditional tactics, they often engaged in clashes across Central Europe and northern Italy. Austrian cuirassiers, dragoons, and hussars formed the backbone of the Habsburg mounted forces, often facing off against Napoleons elite cavalry units. While slower to adopt modern reforms, their sheer numbers and resilience made them a formidable presence on the battlefield. Units were characterised by their white uniforms, metal helmets, and a mix of sabres and lances, depending on regiment type. This set captures the spirit of those mounted soldiers at a time of immense change in military doctrine and continental warfare.
