History:

Between 1808 and 1815, British line infantry formed the core of Wellingtons forces during the Napoleonic Wars. Wearing iconic red coats and stovepipe shakos, these soldiers fought in major campaigns from the Iberian Peninsula to the decisive Battle of Waterloo. British tactics emphasised discipline and volley fire, with two ranks delivering sustained firepower against advancing enemies. Units were typically composed of centre companies and flank companies (light and grenadier), offering versatility on the battlefield. Supported by the King’s German Legion and other allied contingents, the British line infantry helped forge a reputation for resilience and effectiveness against Napoleon’s armies. This set reflects the distinctive appearance and battlefield role of British troops during this critical period of European history.
