Victrix Plastic Miniatures
28mm British Peninsular Heavy Dragoons VX0026
This highly detailed set of 28mm hard plastic miniatures from Victrix allows you to build 12 British Peninsular Heavy Dragoons, including options for both British regiments and the King’s German Legion. Sculpted with care and historical precision, this set captures the distinctive uniform features in use up to 1812, with options reflecting the real-world variation seen in the field due to supply inconsistencies.
The miniatures wear shoulder wings and feature horizontal lace bars across the chest, distinguishing them from post-1812 styles. The set includes two arm types—one with British-style cuffs and another with pointed cuffs and chevrons for KGL representation. It also features two scabbard styles: standard, or with the sabretache issued from 1812 onwards. The officer has a choice of bicorn or cylindrical shako with cords, reflecting transitional headgear styles of the era.
This kit allows you to recreate the powerful and iconic heavy cavalry that charged across the fields of the Peninsular War. Whether smashing French columns or performing disciplined battlefield manoeuvres, these figures will bring gravitas and historical flair to your tabletop.

History:
The British Heavy Dragoons were the iron fist of Wellington’s cavalry arm during the Peninsular War, delivering shock action and decisive charges at key engagements across Spain and Portugal. Mounted on powerful horses and clad in ornate uniforms, they provided a battlefield presence both feared and respected. Though regulations specified changes to equipment and attire, the chaos of wartime logistics often delayed implementation, leading to mixed styles in the field. The King’s German Legion, formed of loyal expatriates, served alongside their British counterparts with distinction, mirroring their structure and appearance. Together, these heavy cavalrymen helped shape the Allied success against Napoleonic forces.
