History:

French dragoons played a vital dual-role as both mounted and dismounted troops, offering Napoleon flexible cavalry capable of engaging in a variety of battlefield tasks. Between 1812 and 1815, their role shifted more towards heavy cavalry, especially as cuirassiers became less available. Distinguished by their green uniforms, brass helmets with black horsehair crests, and long straight swords, dragoons were deployed in major campaigns across Europefrom the retreat from Moscow to the final stand at Waterloo. Their mobility and combat versatility made them invaluable in rear-guard actions, charges, and holding terrain. This set captures their unique transitional role and appearance during the dramatic final phase of the Napoleonic Wars.
