Victrix Plastic Model Figures

Iberian Cavalry (28mm) VXA023

This 28mm hard plastic set from Victrix represents Iberian cavalry units from ancient Hispania. The set includes 12 highly detailed mounted figures, ideal for use in both skirmish and massed battle formations. Known for their speed, agility, and effectiveness as both light and medium cavalry, Iberian horsemen were widely employed by Carthage and later Rome throughout the Punic Wars and other Mediterranean campaigns.

Each miniature is sculpted with a variety of weapon and arm options, providing dynamic posing possibilities for creating unique and visually impressive cavalry units. This set is also compatible with Victrix shield transfers Span 1 and Span 2, offering additional customisation for shields and banners. The horses and riders feature period-accurate equipment, including distinctive oval shields, flowing cloaks, and javelins or swords typical of Iberian warriors.

Perfect for representing allied or mercenary cavalry forces within Carthaginian, Celtiberian, or even early Roman armies, this set provides excellent flexibility for ancient wargamers and painters.

History:

Iberian cavalry played a vital role in ancient warfare, prized for their speed, tactical flexibility, and fearless charges. Recruited from the mountainous and rugged regions of the Iberian Peninsula, these riders often fought as mercenaries or allies in foreign campaigns—most notably under Hannibal during the Second Punic War. Their tactics typically involved hit-and-run attacks using javelins, followed by rapid withdrawal before re-engaging. They were equally capable in close combat and were known for their horsemanship and adaptability on the battlefield. The presence of Iberian cavalry significantly influenced the composition and tactics of Carthaginian and Roman forces alike.
