History:
From 1809 to 1815, Austrian line infantry formed the backbone of the Habsburg military during the final stages of the Napoleonic Wars. Following reforms introduced after earlier defeats, the Austrian army updated its uniforms and tactics, equipping soldiers with white tunics, shakos, and a standardised musket. These troops fought in major engagements against Napoleons forces across central Europe, including the pivotal battles of Aspern-Essling, Wagram, and Leipzig. Known for their resilience and discipline, Austrian infantry operated in large brigades supported by artillery and cavalry. This set captures the distinctive appearance and battlefield role of the imperial infantry during the coalition wars that ultimately led to Napoleons downfall.
