History:

The Focke-Wulf Ta 183 Huckebein was a jet fighter design developed in the final months of World War II as part of Germany’s desperate push to counter Allied air superiority. Designed by Kurt Tank, the Ta 183 featured a sharply swept wing, high tailplane, and was intended to be powered by a Heinkel HeS 011 turbojet engine. Although the prototype never flew before Germany’s surrender, the design strongly influenced post-war jet development, particularly in the Soviet Union, where captured German engineers and blueprints contributed to the early MiG-15. The Ta 183 thus stands as a striking example of advanced German aeronautical engineering that bridged wartime innovation and Cold War jet technology.
