The Academy 1/35 scale K2GF MBT kit reproduces the advanced Polish variant of the South Korean K2 Black Panther. Ordered by the Polish Land Forces, the K2GF incorporates a Polish fire control system, communication equipment, and additional armour, along with Israeli-made Trophy active protection for enhanced survivability. This detailed plastic model includes finely moulded parts, photo-etch elements, a polarising film sheet, and flexible tracks. Builders can assemble the model with hatches open or closed, offering options for both display and diorama settings.

History

The K2 Black Panther was developed by South Korea as one of the world’s most advanced main battle tanks, entering service in the 2010s. In response to evolving security needs, Poland ordered a customised version—the K2GF—to modernise its tank fleet. The first deliveries arrived in December 2022, with further batches scheduled through 2026. The K2GF features Polish-specific systems and an upgraded armour package, making it well-suited to European operational environments. Armed with a 120mm smoothbore gun and advanced protection technologies, the K2GF is set to form the backbone of the Polish tank force for decades. Its adoption represents a significant step in Poland’s efforts to strengthen NATO’s eastern flank and maintain a modern, highly capable armoured corps.
