Academy Samseongyo Model Shop 1/24 Diorama Kit
The Academy Model Shop (15616) is a 1/24 scale plastic diorama kit that recreates a miniature model shop, complete with a shop front, display shelves and tiny models. Presented under the name Samseongyo Academy, the kit provides the main elements needed to assemble a small retail scene rather than a conventional vehicle or aircraft model.
The shop is designed as a half-profile building, with glazing, a printed backdrop, window posters and a section of road included. The miniature models can be arranged on the shelves to create the appearance of a stocked model shop.
A Miniature Model Shop
The central feature of this kit is the shop front, which provides the setting for the miniature displays. Glazing forms part of the storefront, while the shelves and small models create the appearance of a specialist hobby retailer.
Unlike a full building model, the half-profile arrangement concentrates on the shop frontage and its display area. This makes the model particularly suited to a diorama where the shop itself is the main subject.
A section of road is also included, providing an immediate setting in front of the building and helping to establish the scene as a streetside shop.
Display Shelves, Posters and Backdrop
The kit includes several elements for creating the shop’s appearance:
- Half-profile model shop front
- Shopfront glazing
- Display shelves
- Miniature models for the shelves
- Printed backdrop
- Window posters
- Section of road
The printed backdrop and window posters provide the shop with its display graphics. Both can also be used as templates for custom designs, allowing modellers to personalise the appearance of the shop.
This option is particularly useful for anyone who wants to create their own window advertisements or alter the printed background while retaining the basic layout of the model.
Samseongyo Academy and the 1969 Theme
The Korean-market box carries the description “Samseongyo Academy” and the wording “1969, the beginning of Academy Science Co Ltd!”
This gives the model a connection to Academy’s own history, with the shop setting providing a different subject from the manufacturer’s usual aircraft, vehicle and military model kits.
The retail theme also makes the finished model relevant to collectors interested in hobby shops, miniature buildings and street scenes.
1/24 Scale Diorama Kit
Produced in 1/24 scale, the shop can be displayed as a standalone miniature scene or incorporated into a larger diorama using the same scale.
The kit is supplied in Korean domestic-market packaging, with assembly instructions that include English.
Paint and glue are required for assembly and finishing. The completed model features a glazed shop front, shelves displaying miniature models, window posters, a printed backdrop and a section of road, with the option to customise the printed shop graphics.
