The Academy 1/35 Super Sherman Israeli kit recreates the upgraded version of the American M4A1 Sherman, adapted by the Israel Defense Forces for post-WWII conflicts. History: The Israeli Super Sherman emerged in the late 1950s when the IDF modernised its WWII-era M4A1 Sherman tanks to keep them combat-effective. By fitting a powerful French 75mm gun and improving armour, the Super Sherman was able to counter contemporary threats like the Soviet T-34 and T-54/55. It played a major role during the 1956 Suez Crisis and the Six-Day War of 1967, helping to establish Israel’s reputation for effective use of modified armour on the battlefield.
