Airfix Plastic Model Kit

Airfix Heinkel He111 H-6 (1/72) A07007C

One of the most recognisable German aircraft of the Second World War, the Heinkel He111 H-6 became a symbol of the Luftwaffe’s bombing campaigns. Originally developed under the guise of a civilian airliner, the He111 evolved into a fearsome and versatile medium bomber. The H-6 variant was the most widely produced of the series, known for its fully glazed nose, distinctive elliptical wings, and extensive operational flexibility.

Capable of fulfilling multiple roles—including bombing, torpedo attacks, mine-laying, and reconnaissance—the He111 H-6 was deployed in nearly every theatre of the war. Its broad mission scope and lack of a suitable replacement meant that it remained in frontline service until the closing stages of the conflict. Despite increasing Allied air superiority, the aircraft’s rugged design and adaptability allowed it to endure where others had been retired.

This 1/72 scale Airfix kit offers a detailed and accurate representation of the He111 H-6, complete with fine surface detailing and historically accurate markings. It’s an ideal addition to any WWII aircraft collection and offers a compelling build for modellers interested in the Luftwaffe’s most enduring bomber.

History:

The Heinkel He111 was initially developed to bypass the restrictions of the Treaty of Versailles, appearing as a passenger aircraft before transitioning into military service. By the time the H-6 variant was introduced, the aircraft had gained a reputation for being both effective and adaptable. The H-6 featured improved defensive armament, reinforced airframes, and the ability to carry torpedoes and external loads. It played a central role during the Blitz and continued to operate on both the Eastern and Western fronts. With thousands built and countless missions flown, the He111 H-6 remains one of the most significant bombers of the Second World War.
