Airfix Plastic Model Kit

Airfix SEPECAT Jaguar GR.1 (1/72) A03011V

The SEPECAT Jaguar GR.1 emerged from an ambitious 1960s Anglo-French collaboration aimed at producing a rugged and capable strike aircraft. Designed for tactical strike, close air support, and reconnaissance roles, the Jaguar served with distinction in the Royal Air Force for over three decades. Its adaptability and performance in diverse environments made it a valuable asset during the Cold War and beyond.

Equipped with a high-mounted wing and tall, reinforced undercarriage, the Jaguar was capable of operating from improvised or rough airstrips—an essential requirement for forward deployment scenarios. This versatility was famously demonstrated on 26th April 1975, when Jaguar GR.1 XX109 performed a parachute-assisted landing on the unopened M55 motorway near Blackpool, showcasing its field-readiness to the media and public alike.

This 1/72 scale kit from Airfix faithfully recreates the sleek lines and rugged stance of the Jaguar GR.1. Complete with detailed panel lines and RAF markings, it offers modellers a compact and historically significant jet to add to their Cold War or modern era aircraft collections.

  • 1/72 scale plastic model kit
  • Includes SEPECAT Jaguar GR.1 with RAF decals
  • Detailed cockpit, undercarriage, and panel engraving
  • Assembly instructions and painting guide included

Note: This model kit requires assembly and painting. Glue, paints and tools are not included and must be purchased separately.

History:

The SEPECAT Jaguar programme was launched to provide a new generation of jet aircraft capable of supporting ground forces and executing precision strikes. Initially developed for training and light attack roles, the Jaguar evolved into a formidable combat aircraft, seeing operational use in multiple conflicts including the Gulf War. Its high wing and strong landing gear allowed it to operate in austere conditions, reinforcing its role as a front-line tactical aircraft. In RAF service from 1973 to 2007, the Jaguar GR.1 proved both durable and dependable—an enduring symbol of Anglo-French aerospace cooperation and Cold War-era engineering.
