Three different scheme options are included, allowing the finished Lynx to represent Army Air Corps service in Northern Ireland or Croatia during the 1990s. The kit is suitable for ages 8 years and above and carries a Flying Hours value of 4.
Three Army Air Corps Scheme Options
The kit includes decals and finishing options for three Westland Lynx AH-7 aircraft:
- No. 655 Squadron, Army Air Corps, Northern Ireland, September 1993.
- Army Air Corps, United Nations, Split Airport, Croatia, December 1995.
- NATO Stabilisation Force, Army Air Corps, Divulje Barracks, Split, Croatia, July 1997.
These three schemes provide a choice of operational settings and periods while keeping the distinctive Westland Lynx AH-7 at the centre of the build. It makes an appealing subject for modellers interested in military aircraft kits and British Army aviation.
The Westland Lynx
The Westland Lynx was conceived during the 1970s as a replacement for several rotary-wing aircraft used by the British military, with development undertaken in partnership with the French company Sud Aviation. From its early flights, the Lynx demonstrated impressive performance and manoeuvrability, going on to set numerous helicopter speed records.
Produced in different versions for both the British Army and Royal Navy, the Lynx performed a variety of roles and remained operational for four decades. This 1:48 plastic kit captures the Army AH-7 variant in a substantial 233-part build.
