AK Interactive Engine Grime Enamel Wash

AK Interactive Engine Grime (35ml) AK082 is an enamel-based wash formulated to reproduce the dark, worn appearance of heavily used engines and machinery. Its greyish dark tone and matt effect help represent the oily, dirty finish commonly associated with vehicle engines after extended use. The wash adds depth to mechanical details while creating layers of grime and authentic-looking wear.

Application and blending

Shake the bottle well before use. Apply Engine Grime directly to engine surfaces, machinery and mechanical details, gradually building layers of dirt and grime. A brush can be used for targeted application around individual components, joins, recesses and other defined areas. For a more widespread application, the enamel wash can also be applied with an airbrush.

The finish can be blended or softened using a brush dampened with Enamel Thinner. This allows smoother transitions to be created between heavily weathered and cleaner areas, while variations in the grime effect can help bring out the structure of the model. Work gradually when building the finish so that the depth and distribution of the weathering can be controlled.
