Border Model 1/350 Plastic Model Kit

IJN Battleship Parallel World Yamato 1965 BS-007

This 1/350 scale kit from Border Model reimagines the legendary IJN Yamato in a “parallel world” 1965 configuration. Featuring cutting-edge moulding and detail, it provides a striking blend of historical design with imaginative upgrades. The kit’s engineering allows builders to create a model that is both accurate in surface finish and highly detailed internally.

  • Three main turrets with complete internal structure
  • Metal gun barrels included
  • Two styles of 3D printed gun blast bags
  • Ultra-crisp 3D printed detail parts
  • Four-sided slide mould technique for exceptional accuracy
  • Hull assembled with just two parts for a seamless finish

Designed for advanced modellers, this kit offers superb precision and build quality, with modern features such as 3D printed parts and metal components ensuring a realistic result. The combination of engineering and imaginative design makes this an eye-catching centrepiece for any naval collection.

History:

The Yamato-class battleships were the heaviest and most powerfully armed battleships ever constructed, symbolising the Imperial Japanese Navy’s doctrine of decisive fleet engagements. Yamato herself was commissioned in 1941 and fought in several operations before being sunk in April 1945 during Operation Ten-Go. In this “parallel world” interpretation, the Yamato survives the war and undergoes extensive post-war modifications, reimagined as a modernised battleship in 1965. Such alternate history concepts often explore how iconic warships might have evolved had they continued to serve, incorporating upgraded systems, improved weaponry, and Cold War-era adaptations. This kit reflects that creative vision, allowing builders to explore both the history and the “what if” of one of the most famous warships ever built.
