This 1/48 scale die-cast model from Corgi represents Fokker Dr.1 Triplane 564/17, flown by Leutnant Werner Steinhauser of Jasta 11 during one of the most historically significant aerial battles of the First World War. On 21st April 1918, Steinhauser departed Cappy Aerodrome alongside Manfred von Richthofen for what would become the Red Baron’s final combat mission. His aircraft stands as a symbol of a pivotal day in aviation history and honours a promising young pilot whose career ended too soon.

Although relatively new to Jasta 11 in early 1918, Werner Steinhauser quickly demonstrated strong ability under the mentorship of Richthofen. His participation in the engagement with RAF No.209 Squadron on 21st April tied his story to one of the most legendary encounters in aviation history. In the weeks that followed he achieved six further aerial victories, but his life was tragically cut short when he was killed in action just before his 22nd birthday. This Corgi model commemorates his service and the close of an era in First World War air combat.
