North American Mustang Mk.IV – KH790, Werner Christie, RAF No.150 Wing, 1945 (1/72) AA27703

This 1/72 scale die-cast model by Corgi represents Mustang Mk.IV KH790, the personal aircraft of Norwegian ace Wing Commander Werner Christie, flown during the closing stages of the Second World War. Christie achieved his final aerial victory in this aircraft during a bomber escort mission over Germany in spring 1945, when he downed a Focke-Wulf Fw 190 near Finow airfield—his eleventh and last confirmed kill.

Originally designed to meet a British requirement, the Mustang reached its peak with the integration of the Rolls-Royce Merlin engine, transforming it into one of the most capable fighters of World War II. The Mk.IV variant served with distinction in RAF hands, its range and performance allowing effective escort and strike missions deep into enemy territory. KH790 stands out as the personal mount of Werner Christie, a distinguished Norwegian ace whose service and final victory highlight both the prowess of the Mustang and the international contribution to Allied air power in 1945.
