History:

On the morning of June 6th, 1944, US Army Rangers undertook one of the most daring and dangerous missions of D-Day—scaling the sheer cliffs of Pointe du Hoc under intense enemy fire. Their objective was to silence a German battery of 155mm guns believed to be threatening the Utah and Omaha beach landings. Transported in British-designed Landing Craft Assault (LC(A)), the Rangers braved rough seas, barbed wire, and enemy defences with determination and grit.

Equipped with grappling hooks, rope ladders, and sheer courage, the 2nd and 5th Ranger Battalions stormed the base of the cliffs and began their vertical assault. Despite heavy casualties, they succeeded in capturing and securing the position, which became one of the most iconic episodes of the Normandy landings.
