Green Stuff World Bile Sludge is a 10ml yellowish special-effects gel for recreating bile, phlegm, mucus and sickly-looking secretions on miniatures and dioramas. Its thick, stringy texture can be stretched into hanging filaments or applied directly to create raised deposits around mouths, wounds and infected-looking details. Particularly useful for zombies, trolls, plague creatures and alien monsters.

Green Stuff World Bile Sludge – 10ml Bile Slime Effect Gel

Green Stuff World Bile Sludge is a yellowish special-effects gel designed to recreate bile, phlegm, mucus and unpleasant organic secretions on miniatures, models and dioramas. Part of the Green Stuff World Slime Effects range, it adds physical volume to details that would otherwise rely on paint alone.

Its thick, stringy consistency allows the gel to stretch into suspended filaments, creating the appearance of sticky saliva between teeth, bile dripping from a creature’s mouth or viscous secretions clinging to claws. Applied in larger amounts, it forms raised accumulations of slime around wounds, sores and other sculpted details.

The yellowish colour is particularly effective for depicting bilious vomit on ogres and trolls, infected-looking mucus on zombies, secretions from plague demons and digestive fluids on alien creatures.

Creating Hanging Bile and Mucus Strands

Bile Sludge can be applied directly from the container. In its original consistency, the gel holds its shape without dripping, allowing controlled placement on small miniature details.

To create suspended slime strands:

  1. Collect a small amount of gel using a toothpick or modelling tool.
  2. Apply it to the first attachment point, such as a tooth, jaw or tongue.
  3. Slowly stretch the gel towards a second attachment point.
  4. Attach the filament and adjust its thickness by varying the amount used.

Fine strands can represent sticky saliva, while thicker filaments suggest heavier mucus or bile. Combining strands of different thicknesses with small deposits around the mouth creates a more irregular, organic appearance.

Infected Wounds and Organic Scenery

Bile Sludge is also useful for adding pus-like deposits to sculpted wounds, sores and pustules. Apply a small amount to the affected detail and spread it with the tip of a toothpick, concentrating the gel around openings and edges while leaving some underlying paintwork visible.

On creature models, it can represent mucus collecting between skin folds, infected-looking secretions around wounds or thick fluids coating the jaws of giant insects and carnivorous plants.

For dioramas, the gel can depict organic debris in drains, monster nests and experimental laboratories.

Adjusting the Consistency and Finish

For thinner applications, gradually mix Bile Sludge with Green Stuff World Slime Effects Thinner. This reduces its density, allowing the gel to spread across surfaces in thinner layers. Dilution changes its strand-forming behaviour, so the original consistency is better suited to suspended filaments.

Once dry, Bile Sludge can be painted with other acrylic effects. Green Stuff World True Blood can add bloody details to slime strands and wound deposits. Test a small area first to assess the finish over the yellowish base.

Keep the container tightly closed between uses and work in a well-ventilated area. Follow the product label’s instructions and safety warnings.
