Green Stuff World Black Goo is a 10ml black special-effects gel for creating dark slime, mucus and viscous secretions on miniatures, creatures and dioramas. Its thick, stringy consistency can be stretched into suspended filaments between teeth, claws and scenery elements or applied directly to form raised deposits of black goo. Suited to alien creatures, mutants, horror scenes and fantasy models.

Green Stuff World Black Goo – 10ml Black Slime Effect Gel

Green Stuff World Black Goo is a black special-effects gel designed to recreate dark slime, mucus and thick, viscous secretions on miniatures, models and dioramas. Part of the Green Stuff World Slime Effects range, it produces three-dimensional details that extend beyond the painted surface, adding physical texture to creatures and scenery.

The gel has a thick, stringy consistency that can be stretched into suspended filaments or applied in larger amounts to create raised accumulations of black slime. Its dark colour is particularly suited to alien secretions, mutated creatures, corrupted organic matter and sinister fantasy or horror settings.

In its original consistency, Black Goo can be applied directly from the container without dripping. This allows controlled placement on small details, including teeth, claws, jaws and other parts of a miniature.

Creating Hanging Strands of Black Slime

One of the main uses of Black Goo is creating suspended strands of viscous material between two surfaces. These can represent black saliva stretching between a monster’s teeth, mucus hanging from claws or sticky secretions connecting different parts of an alien creature.

To create a strand:

  1. Collect a small amount of Black Goo using a toothpick or modelling tool.
  2. Place the gel on the first attachment point, such as a tooth, jaw or claw.
  3. Gently stretch the gel towards a second attachment point.
  4. Secure the filament and vary the amount of gel to create different thicknesses.

Small amounts produce fine threads, while larger quantities form thicker strands with greater volume. Combining thin filaments with heavier sections and small deposits at their ends creates a more irregular, organic appearance.

Dark Secretions and Corrupted Scenery

Black Goo can also be used without stretching to create raised patches of slime, thick mucus and accumulated secretions. These effects work particularly well on monsters, mutants and alien creatures where a dark, sticky substance helps define the character’s appearance.

For dioramas, strands can connect branches, scenery elements and organic structures to suggest an alien infestation or a spreading mass of corrupted material. The black colour gives these details a distinctive, unsettling appearance.

Once dry, the finish can be modified with other acrylic effects to create different visual results.

Adjusting the Consistency

For thinner applications, Black Goo can be diluted gradually with Green Stuff World Slime Effects Thinner. Add a small amount and mix until the desired consistency is reached. A thinner mixture can be spread across surfaces in layers rather than being used solely for suspended strands.

Dilution changes the gel’s original behaviour, so the undiluted consistency is better suited to forming thicker filaments and three-dimensional slime effects.

Keep the container tightly closed between uses and work in a well-ventilated area. Follow the product label’s instructions and safety warnings.
