History

The McDonnell Douglas F-15D was developed as a twin-seat training version of the legendary F-15 Eagle while retaining full combat capability. Alongside the American aircraft, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries produced the closely related F-15DJ under licence for the Japan Air Self-Defence Force to support pilot conversion and operational training. Despite the addition of a second cockpit, both variants retained the Eagle’s exceptional speed, agility and air combat performance. The F-15D and F-15DJ continue to play an important role in preparing fighter crews while remaining fully capable of carrying out operational missions whenever required.
