This 1/32 scale plastic model kit from Hasegawa recreates the Junkers Ju87G “Kanonenvogel,” the heavily armed anti-tank variant of the famous Stuka dive bomber. Equipped with underwing cannon pods, the Ju87G became a specialist ground-attack aircraft during the later stages of WWII.

The kit contains 167 parts and offers detailed surface engraving along with a well-appointed cockpit and airframe components. The distinctive cannon installation beneath each wing is accurately represented, capturing the imposing appearance that earned the aircraft its “cannon bird” nickname. The finished model measures approximately 352mm in length with a wingspan of 474mm, giving it an impressive presence in 1/32 scale. A decal set is included for authentic markings.

History

The Ju87G variant was developed as a dedicated tank-destroyer, armed with twin 37mm cannon mounted in pods beneath the wings. This configuration proved effective against armoured targets on the Eastern Front, where the aircraft was used extensively in close air support roles.

Although the Stuka’s era as a dive bomber was fading by the later war years, the Ju87G extended its operational life by adapting to new battlefield requirements. Its specialised anti-armour role made it one of the more distinctive and formidable variants of the iconic Stuka family.
