Hasegawa Plastic Model Kit

Hasegawa Nakajima Ki-43-II Hayabusa “Oscar” (1/72) HAA01

The Hasegawa Nakajima Ki-43-II Hayabusa “Oscar” is a highly detailed 1/72 scale plastic model kit of one of the Imperial Japanese Army Air Force’s most important fighter aircraft of the Second World War. Known to the Allies by the reporting name “Oscar”, the Ki-43 gained a reputation for exceptional manoeuvrability and became one of Japan’s most widely operated fighters.

Part of Hasegawa’s popular A Series, this kit features finely moulded plastic parts, clear canopy components, high-quality waterslide decals and a clear, easy-to-follow assembly and colour guide. The accurately shaped airframe captures the elegant lines of the Ki-43-II, while the compact 1/72 scale makes it an excellent project for both newcomers and experienced aircraft modellers.

Hasegawa’s precision tooling ensures excellent fit and crisp surface detail throughout, providing an enjoyable building experience and an authentic finished model. Whether displayed on its own or alongside other Japanese aircraft of the period, this Hayabusa makes a superb addition to any World War II aviation collection.

History

The Nakajima Ki-43 Hayabusa entered service with the Imperial Japanese Army Air Force in 1941 and became Japan’s most widely produced army fighter of the Second World War. The improved Ki-43-II variant featured increased armour protection, a more powerful engine and enhanced performance while retaining the remarkable agility that made the aircraft famous. It served throughout the Pacific, China and South East Asia, engaging Allied fighters in numerous campaigns. Although lightly armed and protected compared with later Allied aircraft, the Ki-43 remained an effective fighter in the hands of experienced pilots and became one of Japan’s best-known wartime aircraft.

Glue and paints are sold separately.
