Hasegawa Plastic Model Kit

Hasegawa Messerschmitt Me 262B-1a/U1 Nachtjäger (1/72) HALE02541

The Hasegawa Messerschmitt Me 262B-1a/U1 Nachtjäger is a finely detailed 1/72 scale model kit of the world’s first operational jet-powered night fighter. Based on the successful Me 262 trainer airframe, the B-1a/U1 variant was modified to intercept Allied bombers during night operations and featured airborne radar equipment together with a dedicated radar operator seated behind the pilot.

This kit accurately reproduces the distinctive appearance of the two-seat Nachtjäger, including the characteristic FuG 218 radar aerial array mounted on the aircraft’s nose. Measuring approximately 151mm in length with a wingspan of 175mm, the model is produced from 57 precision-moulded parts and captures the sleek lines of Germany’s pioneering jet fighter.

Two decal options are included, allowing the modeller to build aircraft from 10./NJG 11 during the closing months of WWII. Both Lieutenant Kurt Werther’s “Red 10” and “Red 12” are provided, representing aircraft flown during 1945 as Germany attempted to counter increasing Allied night bombing operations.

Designed for both aviation enthusiasts and Luftwaffe collectors, this kit combines Hasegawa’s renowned moulding quality with accurate proportions and crisp surface detail, making it an excellent addition to any collection of WWII aircraft.

History

The Messerschmitt Me 262 was the world’s first operational jet fighter and represented a revolutionary advance in military aviation. The Me 262B-1a/U1 Nachtjäger was developed from the two-seat trainer version and adapted for night fighting by fitting FuG 218 radar equipment and adding a radar operator behind the pilot. Entering service during the final months of WWII, these aircraft were assigned to Nachtjagdgeschwader 11, where they attempted to intercept RAF night bombers using their superior speed and advanced radar technology. Although only a small number were built before the war ended, the Me 262B-1a/U1 remains one of the most distinctive and technologically advanced night fighters of the conflict.

Glue and paints are sold separately.
