ICM Plastic Model Kit
ICM B-26F Marauder, WWII American Bomber (1/48) 48325
This 1/48 scale model kit faithfully replicates the Martin B-26F Marauder, a significant late-war development of the renowned American twin-engine medium bomber. The most important upgrade in the F variant was its redesigned wing structure, increasing the angle of attack by 3.5 degrees. This adjustment improved the aircraft’s takeoff and landing performance—shortening the runway requirement by approximately 90 metres—while only slightly reducing its top speed.
The B-26F also introduced a new ventilation mast to access fuel tank air and a modified windscreen configuration. Production began in February 1944, with operational deployment by the USAAF’s 9th Air Force in Great Britain during spring 1945, and later to the 12th Air Force in the Mediterranean. Just 300 units of the B-26F were produced, making this kit an especially interesting subject for modellers of WWII aviation.

History:
The Martin B-26 Marauder played a vital role in Allied air operations, particularly in the European and Mediterranean theatres. Known for its speed and survivability, the B-26 saw continuous development throughout the war. The B-26F, with its improved aerodynamics and operational range, was a culmination of lessons learned from earlier variants. Its improved takeoff and landing capabilities made it well-suited for missions from shorter airstrips, often near the front lines. Although relatively few were built, the B-26F flew numerous sorties supporting the final Allied advances in Europe.
