History
The Bücker Bü 131 Jungmann first flew in 1934 and quickly became one of the most respected training aircraft of its era. Designed as a lightweight and highly manoeuvrable biplane trainer, it earned a reputation for excellent handling characteristics and reliable performance.
The aircraft was widely adopted by the Luftwaffe for pilot instruction and remained an important training platform throughout the Second World War. The Bü 131D was the final major production version and incorporated improvements based on operational experience gained from earlier variants.
For winter operations, specialised ski landing gear known as Bücker-Schneekufen was developed to allow continued training activities from snow-covered airfields where conventional wheeled undercarriages were unsuitable.
The Bü 131 became one of Germany’s most recognisable training aircraft and remained in use in several countries even after the end of the war due to its simplicity, agility, and dependable flight characteristics.
