ICM ZіL-131 AFU Truck with DShKM (1/72) 72821
This 1/72 scale plastic model kit represents the ZiL-131 fire support variant as modified and utilised by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Originally developed and mass-produced during the 1970s and 1980s, the ZiL-131 is an all-wheel drive military truck known for its robustness, high reliability, and outstanding off-road capability. Widely adopted across both military and civilian sectors, the ZiL-131 continues to serve today in modernised configurations.
In Ukrainian service, several of these trucks have been adapted in the field to enhance their battlefield utility. Common upgrades include the installation of DShKM heavy machine guns mounted in the cargo bed on simple or reinforced pedestals. These modifications convert the truck into a mobile fire support platform, offering increased defensive and offensive flexibility against both ground and low-altitude aerial threats.

History:
The ZiL-131 is one of the most recognisable military transport trucks developed in the Soviet Union and continues to see active use in post-Soviet states. In Ukraine, it has been adapted to meet the demands of contemporary conflict, where mobility and improvisation are essential. Field-modified versions equipped with heavy machine guns have been observed in various combat zones, providing both logistical support and a mobile fire platform for frontline units. These adaptations underscore the truck’s ongoing relevance in asymmetric warfare and its reputation as a reliable workhorse on and off the battlefield.
