History:
Developed by Rafael Advanced Defense Systems and Israel Aerospace Industries, the Iron Dome was first deployed in 2011 to protect against incoming rocket and artillery fire. Its rapid response capability and mobile launcher make it one of the most effective short-range air defense systems in the world. The system uses radar to detect threats and launches Tamir interceptor missiles to neutralise them mid-air. The Iron Dome has proven its effectiveness in multiple operational scenarios, earning recognition for its high interception rate and its role in safeguarding civilian areas.
