Matho Models 1/35 Banana Boxes

Matho Models 35134 is a 1/35 scale detailing set containing 14 banana boxes in three different designs. Printed together on a single A5 sheet, the boxes are produced on slightly thickened paper to create a realistic appearance when assembled and added to a scale modelling project.

Each box includes separate top and bottom parts, allowing the individual components to be assembled as required. The interiors are printed with a brown cardboard texture as well as the exterior designs, so the boxes can be displayed open while retaining detail on the visible inside surfaces.

14 Boxes in Three Different Designs

The set contains a total of 14 boxes across three designs. The printed construction includes the necessary hole positions, helping with preparation of the individual parts before assembly. As part of the Matho Models range of detailing accessories, the combination of printed exterior designs and cardboard-textured interiors provides useful flexibility when arranging the finished boxes.

For clean edges, cut the components from the sheet using a sharp knife and steel ruler. The indicated small round holes can be formed by pressing a scribe needle through the marked position until the required round opening is created, then carefully removing excess paper from the reverse with a sharp knife.

Preparing and Folding the Boxes

For the longer openings, use a scribe needle at the left and right ends before cutting away the remaining section with a sharp knife. To make folding easier and create sharp bends, gently run a knife along the printed bending lines using a steel ruler as a guide. The bending lines should be scored lightly rather than cut through.

Once a coloured box has been assembled and glued together, its exposed paper edges can be lightly painted in a matching colour to disguise the white paper edge. With separate tops and bottoms, printed brown cardboard interiors and three different exterior designs, the 14 completed banana boxes can be arranged open or closed while retaining printed detail on the visible surfaces.
