Matho Models 1/35 Fire Hydrants

Add finely detailed fire hydrants to your 1/35 modelling projects with this set from Matho Models. The set contains two identical unpainted fire hydrants, printed in high-detail UV-cured acrylic plastic and ready for preparation, priming and painting.

Each fire hydrant consists of two parts and has a total height of 2.1 cm. The pair includes matching 1/35 accessories to add this distinctive feature to suitable scenes and dioramas. The cobblestones shown with the hydrants are not included.

High-Detail 3D Printed Parts

The fire hydrants are produced from UV-cured acrylic plastic using a 3D printing process. Handle the parts carefully during preparation, as the printed material can be brittle. Before sanding or painting, rinse the parts in acetone to remove excess waxy support material remaining from the printing process.

Because 3D printing builds each model in very fine layers, some layer lines may remain slightly visible in certain areas, particularly under magnification. If needed, sand these with a medium abrasive such as 600 grit, followed by a finer abrasive such as 1000 grit. Rinse the parts in acetone again to remove sanding dust before priming and painting.

Preparing Small Areas

For very small or difficult-to-reach areas, cut a narrow strip of sandpaper approximately 1-2 mm wide and fold it. Grip the strip with flat-tipped tweezers so that only a tiny section of the folded edge extends beyond the tips. This creates a small sanding surface that can be moved carefully over confined areas of the model.

When the exposed abrasive becomes clogged, create a fresh fold in an unused section of the strip and continue sanding. Once preparation is complete and the parts are clean, the two fire hydrants are ready for priming and painting to match the finish required for your 1/35 scene.
