Matho Models 1/35 Jungle Plants Set 1

Create finely detailed vegetation with this Matho Models 1/35 Jungle Plants Set 1. The set contains five photo-etch sheets, each etched from ultra-thin 0.10 mm brass to produce realistic leaf thickness and exceptionally fine plant detail. The etched detail includes delicate leaf veins, helping the finished plants achieve a convincing appearance once shaped, painted and weathered.

Use the plants as ground cover or add them as foliage to your own tree armatures. Use thin green metal wire to attach the foliage when creating tree arrangements.

Combining all five designs offers a varied selection of photo-etched jungle vegetation for 1/35 modelling projects.

Painting and Shaping the Plants

Leave the plants attached to the fret during the initial painting and weathering stages. Airbrush a few layers of acrylic primer, allowing at least 24 hours to dry between coats. Continue with your preferred acrylic or enamel colours and weathering products, then seal the finish with a few coats of varnish. Allow the varnish to dry for at least 24 hours before handling the parts further.

Place the fret on a hard surface such as wood or glass, then carefully cut the plants free with a fresh knife. Clean any remaining fret attachment points with a micro file. Handle the painted parts gently to minimise scratching.

Use two pairs of tweezers to create natural shapes, holding the plant with one pair while using the other to position the leaves and branches. Bend individual leaves and branches to enhance their natural appearance. Once shaped, carefully glue the plants into position. Any exposed brass caused by cutting or handling can then be touched up with the main colour using a round brush with a very fine tip.
