Matho Models 1/35 Mushrooms

Add small natural details to your 1/35 modelling projects with this Mushrooms set from Matho Models. The set contains 12 unpainted mushrooms in six different types, with two of each type, plus four fungi pieces. All of the parts are 3D printed in high-detail UV-cured acrylic plastic.

The variety of mushroom types and additional fungi pieces gives you a selection of individual details to arrange within a 1/35 scene. The tree stump shown with the set is not included.

16 Detailed Mushroom and Fungi Pieces

The set includes 16 pieces: 12 mushrooms and four fungi pieces. The mushrooms include six different types, with two examples of each. Supplied unpainted, the pieces can be prepared, primed, and painted before you incorporate them into your chosen detailing project.

Handle the 3D-printed parts carefully during preparation, as they can be brittle. Begin by rinsing them in acetone to remove excess waxy support material left from the 3D printing process.

Preparing the 3D Printed Parts

The printing process builds the parts in very fine layers, and some layer lines may remain slightly visible in certain areas, particularly under magnification. Where required, sand these areas with a medium abrasive such as 600 grit, followed by a finer abrasive such as 1000 grit. Acrylic plastic sands easily, so work carefully to retain fine printed detail. Rinse the parts in acetone again afterwards to remove sanding dust before priming and painting.

Some 3D printed parts can be hollow and open underneath. If you want to display the underside, fill it with putty and sand it before finishing.

For very small or difficult areas, cut a strip of sandpaper approximately 1-2 mm wide and fold it. Hold the fold with flat-tipped tweezers so that only a tiny section projects beyond the tips, then carefully work it over the area that needs sanding. When the abrasive becomes clogged, make a fresh fold in an unused section of the strip and continue.
