Matho Models Old French Commercial Signs provides a varied selection of water-slide decals for adding old French commercial signage to scale modelling projects. Designed in 1/35 scale, the decals can also be used with other scales where their size suits the project. The set contains one A6-sized sheet with various designs, providing a useful selection of individual signs for adding distinctive French commercial details.

The decals are supplied without pre-weathering, giving you control over their final appearance. They can be applied with a cleaner finish or weathered to your preferred level as part of the finishing process, allowing the signs to be blended with surrounding surfaces and the overall design.

Applying and Weathering the Signs

Cut out the required decal with a sharp knife and place it in water for approximately 5-10 seconds to loosen it from the carrier paper. Gently slide the decal into position using tweezers. Decal softener, such as Micro Set and Sol, can improve adhesion, particularly when applying decals to non-flat surfaces.

Once positioned, use tissue paper and apply light pressure over the decal to remove excess water or decal softener and fix it into place. After drying, an airbrushed coat of varnish can provide protection. A semi-matte or matte varnish can also reduce glare if required.

The signs can then be weathered to your preferred level to blend them into the surrounding finish and achieve the appearance required for your project. Copyright markings are not present on the actual product.
