Matho Models 1/35 Plastic Crates Set
Add finely detailed plastic crates to your 1/35 modelling projects with this set from Matho Models. The set contains six unpainted crates in three different types, with two examples of each design. All six are printed in high-detail UV-cured acrylic plastic and are ready for preparation, priming and painting.
Each crate is approximately 1.2 cm long, providing compact accessories for detailing 1/35 scenes. The three crate types add useful variety while keeping matching pairs of each design.
Six Crates in Three Different Types
The set combines two examples of each of the three crate types available individually as Matho Models 35040, 35041 and 35042. With six pieces in total, the crates can be arranged individually, in matching pairs, or combined into larger groups to suit your scene.
The crates are supplied unpainted, allowing their final finish to be matched to your chosen project.
Preparing the 3D Printed Parts
Handle the UV-cured acrylic plastic carefully during preparation, as 3D-printed parts can be brittle. First, rinse the parts in acetone to remove excess waxy support material left from the printing process.
The 3D printing process builds each part in very fine layers, and some layer lines may remain slightly visible in certain areas, particularly under magnification. Where needed, sand these with a medium abrasive such as 600 grit, followed by a finer abrasive such as 1000 grit. Rinse the parts in acetone again afterwards to remove sanding dust before priming and painting.
For very small or difficult areas, cut a strip of sandpaper approximately 1-2 mm wide, fold it and hold it with flat-tipped tweezers so only a tiny section of the folded edge projects beyond the tips. This creates a small sanding surface for careful preparation of confined areas. Once the required preparation is complete, the six crates are ready to be primed and painted.
