Matho Models 1/35 Wooden Whiskey Crates

Matho Models 35130 is a 1/35 scale detailing set containing 16 wooden whiskey crates featuring five different brand designs in two sizes. Printed together on a single A5 sheet, the crates are produced on very thick paper to create a realistic appearance once assembled.

The inside of each crate is printed with a wood texture as well as the exterior design. This allows the finished crates to be displayed open while retaining the wood appearance on the visible interior surfaces. Each crate consists of an A part and a B part, which are cut from the sheet, folded along the indicated bend lines and glued together.

The set provides both small and large crates. The small crates measure 1.6 x 1 x 0.9cm, while the large crates measure 2.9 x 1.7 x 1.1cm. Combined with five different brand designs, the selection provides varied 1/35 scale detailing within a single set.

These Matho Models crates can also be prepared for open display. The top lid can be cut away to create a separate lid, leaving the printed wood-texture interior visible. Plasticard can be added inside the crate when a thicker appearance is wanted for the individual planks.

Preparing and Assembling the Crates

For clean edges, cut out the A and B components with a sharp knife and steel ruler. For easier bending, gently run a knife over the indicated fold lines while using a steel ruler as a guide. The fold lines should be lightly scored rather than cut through, helping to produce clean, sharp bends before the components are glued together.

After assembly, exposed white paper edges can be lightly painted in a matching colour to blend them with the printed crate design. With 16 crates, five brand designs, two different sizes and printed wood-texture interiors, the set provides a varied selection of 1/35 whiskey crates that can be assembled for either open or closed display.
