History:
The HF.14 Kleine Feldküche (Small Field Kitchen) was introduced in the early 20th century and became a mainstay of German field logistics through both World Wars. Designed for mobility, it was typically horse-drawn and equipped with a large boiler and food compartments, enabling troops to receive warm meals even at the front. Crewed by army cooks, these kitchens were affectionately nicknamed “Gulaschkanonen” by German soldiers. The HF.14’s versatility allowed it to be used in varied theatres—from the muddy fields of Flanders to the steppes of Russia. In an era where morale and nutrition were closely linked, the field kitchen played an unsung but vital role in keeping armies functioning.
