VMS No-Peel Primer No. 5 in Iron Oxide Red is a highly versatile primer offering reliable coverage and strong surface adhesion. Its rich red tone is ideal for replicating factory primer coats, undercoating weathered armour, or establishing depth in rust-effect paintwork. It combines solvent-level grip with the ease and safety of water-based use.
Despite its name, this primer is not just for rust tones or vehicles. It is equally suitable for aircraft, diorama pieces, figures and any model requiring a warm, earthy base layer. The formula adheres excellently to plastic, metal, resin and 3D printed materials, ensuring lasting durability and clean paint application.
With a factory-set viscosity of 40 cSt, it sprays effortlessly through fine nozzles without thinning. Use a 0.2mm nozzle for precision work or go up to 0.4mm for faster priming. Optimum spraying pressure is 30 PSI, though it works effectively within a 20 to 40 PSI range.
The primer’s ultra-fine binder allows it to settle evenly without obscuring detail. Allow to dry naturally for two hours before painting or force dry and proceed after just 30 minutes. Cleanup is simple with tap water, though VMS Airbrush Cleaners Pro Acrylic is advised after several uses to maintain peak performance.
Note: This product must not be frozen. Store at room temperature and keep away from direct sunlight. Shelf life is at least 36 months when stored in a cool, dark place.
