Roden Douglas C-133B Cargomaster USAF 1/144 Model Kit

The Roden Douglas C-133B Cargomaster (335) is a 1/144 scale plastic model kit of the American heavy military transport aircraft. This release includes markings for C-133B-1DL serial number 59-0536, operated by the US Air Force’s 1501st Military Air Wing in 1965.

Designed during the late 1950s, the C-133B was developed to carry large military loads over considerable distances. Its substantial cargo capacity made it an important aircraft for American military transport operations during the Cold War.

Douglas C-133B Cargomaster

The Douglas C-133B was a heavy-duty transport aircraft developed for the United States Air Force. At one time, it was the largest aircraft in its class and capable of transporting almost the entire range of US Army equipment, including particularly large military loads.

The C-133B differed from the earlier C-133A in two important respects. Its double-hatch cargo door increased the dimensions of freight that could be accommodated, while more powerful Pratt & Whitney T34-P-9W engines provided an additional improvement over the earlier version.

Only 15 C-133B aircraft were manufactured, making this a relatively uncommon variant of the Cargomaster.

Cold War Military Transport Operations

The C-133B was extensively used to move military freight from the United States to Western Europe during the Cold War. Its ability to transport large equipment made it valuable for long-distance military logistics.

The aircraft also served during the Vietnam War, contributing to American military transport operations during that conflict.

Beyond its military duties, the C-133B was involved in the American space programme, supporting work connected with space equipment at Cape Canaveral. Aircraft of the type were eventually transferred to storage facilities or museums.

1/144 Scale Plastic Model Kit

Produced by Roden, this 1/144 scale plastic kit depicts the C-133B Cargomaster, including its distinctive heavy transport configuration.

The scale is well suited to collections of large military aircraft, allowing the completed Cargomaster to be displayed alongside other 1/144 scale model kits.

Its combination of Cold War service, heavy freight transport and connections with the American space programme makes the C-133B an interesting addition to a collection of historic US military aircraft.
