The Takom Sd.Kfz. 250/4 Ausf.A Anti-Aircraft Half-Track is a detailed 1/35 scale model kit of one of Germany’s specialised light armoured vehicles of the Second World War. Based on the versatile Sd.Kfz. 250 light half-track chassis, the 250/4 variant was developed to provide mobile anti-aircraft protection for armoured and mechanised formations operating close to the front line.

The compact size and excellent cross-country mobility of the Sd.Kfz. 250 made it an ideal platform for a variety of battlefield roles. The anti-aircraft version combined the protection and mobility of the half-track chassis with a light anti-aircraft weapon system capable of engaging low-flying aircraft while also proving effective against lightly armoured ground targets and infantry positions.

This Takom kit features highly detailed exterior and interior components designed to accurately reproduce the appearance of the Ausf.A variant. The suspension is fully moveable, allowing the model to be displayed on uneven terrain, while the workable tracks provide additional realism for diorama builders. Hatches may be displayed open or closed depending on the desired presentation.

Photo-etched parts are included to enhance fine details throughout the model, while clear parts improve the realism of vision blocks and other transparent components. The kit also includes a seated crew figure and four marking options, providing flexibility when depicting vehicles from different units and operational theatres.

History

The Sd.Kfz. 250 was developed as a lightweight armoured personnel carrier intended to support reconnaissance and specialist units. Its compact size, sloped armour and half-track running gear gave it excellent mobility across difficult terrain while providing protection against small-arms fire and shell fragments.

Numerous specialised variants were produced throughout the war, including command vehicles, reconnaissance platforms, artillery observation vehicles and anti-aircraft versions. The Sd.Kfz. 250/4 was designed to provide local air defence for advancing formations and supply columns, helping to protect German units from low-level air attacks. The vehicle’s mobility allowed it to keep pace with armoured forces while delivering rapid defensive fire when required.

The Sd.Kfz. 250 family served on all major fronts of the war and became one of the most widely recognised German half-track vehicles. Its adaptability and versatility ensured it remained in service until the end of the conflict.

This model kit requires assembly and painting. Glue, paints and tools are not included and must be purchased separately.
