Tamiya Plastic Model Kit

Tamiya F-16 CJ Fighting Falcon Block 50 w/Full Equipment (1/72)

The F-16CJ Fighting Falcon Block 50 is a cornerstone of the United States Air Force’s modern fighter fleet, renowned for its adaptability in both air-to-air and air-to-ground missions. Introduced in the early 1990s, the Block 50 variant was optimised for Suppression of Enemy Air Defences (SEAD) missions, equipped with advanced radar countermeasures and the capability to employ AGM-88 HARM missiles. Through the Common Configuration Implementation Program (CCIP), the aircraft received further upgrades including night combat capability and advanced targeting systems, ensuring its operational relevance into the 21st century.

This enhanced 1/72 scale Tamiya kit builds upon the original F-16CJ Block 50 release (Item 60786) with additional parts to accurately depict the aircraft’s full range of underside equipment. Model enthusiasts can now replicate the complete loadout seen on active service jets, capturing the versatility and mission-ready stance of this formidable fighter.

  • Highly detailed 1/72 scale model of the F-16CJ Block 50
  • Includes parts for centreline fuel tank and wing-mounted drop tanks
  • ECM countermeasures pod and AN/ASQ-213 HTS targeting pod
  • AGM-88 HARM, AIM-120 AMRAAM, AIM-9M and AIM-9X Sidewinder missiles
  • AN/AAQ-33 Sniper XR targeting pod
  • Accurate panel line detailing and realistic proportions
  • Multiple marking options for operational aircraft

History

The Lockheed Martin F-16 Fighting Falcon was originally developed by General Dynamics in the 1970s as a lightweight air superiority fighter. Over decades of service, it evolved into one of the most versatile and widely used multirole combat aircraft in the world. The Block 50 variant entered USAF service in 1991, specifically tailored for SEAD missions to disable enemy radar and missile sites. Its combination of agility, advanced avionics, and weapons integration has made it a vital asset in operations across the globe, from the Balkans and the Middle East to more recent modern conflicts.
