German Anti-Tank Gun 5cm Pak 38 (1/35) 35392
The Tamiya 1/35 scale German Anti-Tank Gun 5cm Pak 38 captures one of the most widely used German anti-tank weapons of World War II. Introduced in 1940, the Pak 38 combined improved armour penetration with lightweight mobility, enabling it to be deployed across varied battlefronts including the Balkans, the Eastern Front, and North Africa. Its compact design and advanced muzzle brake made it a reliable defensive weapon against early Allied armour, while its continued service highlighted its battlefield value despite the emergence of heavier Allied tanks.

History:
First delivered to frontline units in mid-1940, the 5cm Pak 38 was designed as a successor to the underpowered 3.7cm Pak 36. Armed with Panzergranate 39 armour-piercing shells, the gun was capable of penetrating 61mm of armour angled at 60 degrees from a distance of 500 metres, making it effective against early-war Allied tanks. Its construction featured advanced elements such as aluminium alloy trail legs and a double-layered gun shield for improved crew protection. The Pak 38 was first used in combat during the Balkan campaign of 1941 and went on to serve extensively across theatres from the harsh conditions of the Eastern Front to the deserts of North Africa. By the time production ceased in 1943, over 9,600 units had been manufactured, cementing its place as a vital component of German anti-tank defences during the war.
