History: Introduced in 1938, the Type 97 Chi-Ha was the Imperial Japanese Army’s standard medium tank during the early years of WWII. Armed with a short-barrelled 57mm gun, it was effective against infantry and lightly armoured vehicles but struggled against more modern Allied tanks later in the war. It saw extensive action across China, Southeast Asia, and the Pacific islands, serving until Japan’s surrender in 1945. The Chi-Ha remains one of the most recognisable Japanese armoured vehicles of the era.
