German Pz.Kpfw. II Ausf. A/B/C (1/35) 35292
The Panzerkampfwagen II was developed in the 1930s to provide the German Army with a more capable combat tank than the earlier Panzer I. Built on the same basic chassis but fitted with a 2cm KwK 30 L/55 cannon, the Ausf.A version entered production in 1937. Incremental improvements, including suspension upgrades, led to the Ausf.C, the most numerous of the early series. By April 1940, 1,088 units had been produced. The Panzer II played a leading role in the invasions of Poland and France, spearheading Blitzkrieg assaults, before being relegated to reconnaissance duties as heavier tanks took over front-line roles. Its mobility, ease of maintenance, and reliability ensured it remained in service in various capacities until the end of WWII.
- 1/35 scale model with finely reproduced hull and turret details.
- Includes optional supplemental armor plates for variant accuracy.
- Separately moulded hatches and armor panels to depict different configurations.
- Assembly-type tracks with single-piece straight sections for easier construction.
- Comes with a commander figure and markings for three units from the French campaign.
- Perfect for early-war dioramas alongside French B1 bis, UE carrier, and German support vehicles.
History
Conceived under the restrictions of the Versailles Treaty, the Panzer II represented a critical step in Germany’s rearmament and tank doctrine development. Though lightly armed and armoured by later standards, it was instrumental in training armoured crews and proving tactics during the early Blitzkrieg campaigns. Its rapid deployment in Poland and France demonstrated the value of speed, coordination, and armoured mobility in modern warfare. Even after its replacement as a main battle tank, the Panzer II chassis found new life in reconnaissance, artillery towing, and self-propelled gun roles, making it one of the most adaptable armoured platforms of the period.
