This 1/48 scale Tamiya model kit recreates the German Sturmgeschütz III Ausf. B, one of WWII’s most produced and versatile armoured fighting vehicles. Originally designed as an assault gun to support infantry, the StuG III evolved into a formidable tank destroyer as the war progressed.
Based on the Panzer III chassis, the Ausf. B version was the first mass-produced model, with 250 units built from June 1940. It featured a fixed superstructure housing a short-barrel 75mm L/24 gun, wide tracks for improved mobility, and a low silhouette for enhanced survivability. The Ausf. B saw action in campaigns such as the Balkans in April 1941 and Operation Barbarossa in June 1941.
