Tamiya Plastic Model Kit

Tamiya Supermarine Spitfire MK.VI (1/32)

The Supermarine Spitfire MK.VI was a high-altitude fighter variant of the iconic British Spitfire. Developed to intercept high-flying enemy aircraft during WWII, it featured extended wingtips, a pressurised cockpit, and a four-bladed propeller. Designed for performance in thin air, the MK.VI demonstrated the versatility and ongoing innovation of the Spitfire platform. This 1/32 scale kit from Tamiya accurately captures the defining characteristics of the aircraft, offering modellers a rewarding and historically significant subject.

  • 1/32 scale plastic assembly model
  • Depicts the Spitfire MK.VI with high-altitude features
  • Retractable or deployed tail wheel and landing gear options
  • Moveable ailerons, rudder, and elevators
  • Optional extended and standard wingtips
  • Includes parts for 30 and 90 gallon external fuel tanks
  • Comes with two pilot figures, seated and standing
  • Three marking options for USAAF, RAAF, and RCAF units

This model kit requires assembly and painting. Glue, paints and tools are not included and must be purchased separately.

History:

Introduced during WWII, the Supermarine Spitfire MK.VI was tailored for high-altitude interception duties. Designed with a pressurised cockpit, larger wingspan, and a four-blade propeller, it addressed the Luftwaffe’s high-level bomber threats. Although only a limited number were produced, the MK.VI served as a vital stepping stone in the development of later Spitfire variants. Its legacy contributed to the RAF’s continued aerial superiority and showcased Britain’s commitment to adapting quickly to evolving wartime challenges.
